He is an ambitious innovator whose work merges influences from modern jazz and classical music. At November Music 2023, Van Gelder presents his latest album Manifold with a specially assembled international eight-piece band. Manifold is an ode to human multiplicity. As a composer, Van Gelder has taken big steps when making this album. What inspired him, among others, was the layered and emotional music of composers such as György Ligeti and Oliver Messiaen.
